About the Project

Permission Slip — Give Yourself Permission to Act

Permission Slip is a free, client-side tool that generates official-looking permission slips for yourself. Choose your situation, name the belief holding you back, and get a personalized authorization to move forward—ship the project, take the break, make the pivot, or say no.

The Problem It Solves

Everyone gets stuck. Not because the path forward is unclear, but because they're waiting for someone to say it's okay.

  • "Am I allowed to ship this even though it's not perfect?"
  • "Is it okay to take a break when everyone else is grinding?"
  • "Can I say no to this opportunity?"

The answer is almost always yes. But knowing that intellectually and feeling authorized are two different things. Permission Slip bridges that gap with a simple, playful ritual: fill in the form, generate the slip, download it as a beautiful image.

It's tongue-in-cheek by design. The format is deliberately official—a signed, dated document granting you explicit permission—because sometimes what you need isn't advice. You need a permission slip.

How It Works

1. Choose Your Situation

Select from common scenarios: shipping something imperfect, taking a rest day, pivoting direction, saying no to a request, or write your own.

2. Name the Limiting Belief

Type the thought that's holding you back. "It's not good enough." "People will judge me." "I should be doing more." Naming it takes away some of its power.

3. Generate Your Permission

Permission Slip creates a personalized, beautifully formatted authorization document. Your name, your situation, your belief—acknowledged and overruled.

4. Download & Keep

Save your permission slip as an image. Pin it to your desk, set it as your phone wallpaper, or share it with someone who needs one too.

Privacy First

Like all Jagodana tools, Permission Slip runs entirely in the browser. No text you enter is sent to any server. No analytics on your personal struggles. Close the tab and it's gone.

Technical Details

Permission Slip is built with:

  • Next.js (App Router) — fast, static-exportable
  • TypeScript — type-safe form logic
  • Client-side rendering — all generation happens in the browser
  • Canvas API — for image generation and download
  • Zero external API calls — fully offline-capable after initial load

Who It's For

Anyone who's ever needed a nudge to do the thing they already know they should do. Founders, creators, developers, parents, students—anyone who occasionally confuses "I'm not sure" with "I'm not allowed."

The Challenge

The client needed a robust lifestyle & productivity solution that could scale with their growing user base while maintaining a seamless user experience across all devices.

The Solution

We built a modern application using Self-Authorization and Productivity, focusing on performance, accessibility, and a delightful user experience.
