Stop Guessing, Start Predicting — Introducing Streak Splitter
You've been tracking your habit for 47 days. You missed yesterday. And the day before. You tell yourself you'll catch up — but deep down, you know that streak is fragile. The problem is, you don't know how fragile.
Streak Splitter answers that question. It calculates exactly how close your habit is to breaking, scores your consistency, and tells you how many days you have left before the streak collapses — all in your browser, with zero data sent anywhere.
The Problem with Streak Tracking
Most habit apps show you two numbers: your current streak and whether you completed today's habit. That's useful, but it misses the most important signal — the risk trajectory. A 60-day streak where you've been skipping every third day is far more fragile than a 14-day streak with perfect consistency. But both apps would show you the same green checkmark.
Streak Splitter makes that risk visible.
How It Works
Collapse Risk
The core metric is the collapse risk score: the ratio of your current skips to the maximum skips you've allowed yourself before the streak breaks.
- Below 40% — Safe. You have plenty of buffer.
- 40–70% — Warning. You're burning through your tolerance.
- 70–100% — Critical. One or two more slips and it's over.
- 100% — Broken. The streak is gone.
Enter your allowed skips, your current skips, and watch the meter update instantly.
Volatility Score
The collapse risk tells you where you are. Volatility tells you how you got there — and how likely it is to get worse.
Volatility is calculated from your completion rate: (1 - completion rate) × 100. The lower the score, the more consistent you are.
- 0–20 — Stable. Rock-solid consistency.
- 20–50 — Shaky. Room for improvement.
- 50+ — Chaotic. High risk of collapse even with buffer remaining.
A habit with a low collapse risk but high volatility is still dangerous — it's trending in the wrong direction.
Days Until Collapse
The most actionable number: at your current burn rate (skips per day), how many days do you have before you exhaust your remaining skip budget?
This turns an abstract risk percentage into a concrete deadline. "You have 11 days before this streak breaks if you keep going at this rate" is far more motivating than "your risk is 67%."
If your burn rate is zero — you haven't skipped at all recently — collapse is predicted as never.
Multi-Habit Tracking
Real life involves more than one habit. Add as many habits as you're tracking, configure each one independently, and see your full risk dashboard at a glance.
Each habit gets its own risk meter, volatility score, and days-until-collapse estimate. You'll quickly see which habits are solid and which ones need your attention.
Privacy First
No accounts. No sign-up. No server uploads. No analytics on your habits. Every calculation runs locally in your browser, and your data stays in localStorage — on your device, under your control.
This is intentional. Your habit data is personal. A streak predictor has no business sending it anywhere.
Who Is This For?
Streak Splitter is useful for anyone who:
- Tracks habits with an allowed-skip rule (e.g. "I can miss at most 2 days per month")
- Wants to know the quantitative risk of losing a streak, not just "did I check in today"
- Manages multiple habits and needs a unified risk view
- Values privacy and doesn't want to create yet another account
